The Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, today (Wednesday), October 7, 2026, inaugurated the Fifth General and International Imam Abu Hanifa (RA) Exhibition at the Afghanistan International Exhibition Center in Kabul.
Addressing the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund said that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is striving to create the necessary facilities for trade and investment, reduce obstacles facing traders, and establish a suitable environment for the private sector, as private-sector participation is of fundamental importance to economic growth.
The Deputy PM for Economic Affairs added that the Fifth General and International Imam Abu Hanifa (RA) Exhibition is considered an important initiative for showcasing Afghanistan’s economic potential, supporting domestic production, expanding trade relations, and strengthening direct commercial ties between Afghanistan and the region.
The Deputy PM further stated that today’s exhibition will properly showcase Afghanistan’s potential in the field of commercial products and production and, given the high quality of Afghanistan’s productive, agricultural, and industrial products, as well as its dried and fresh fruits, will play an important role in strengthening trade relations with other countries and finding regional and international markets for Afghan products.
Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund said: “Trade relations and commercial ties among the countries of the region and the world are based on an important principle of trade, namely comparative and absolute advantages, so that countries around the world can properly meet their respective comparative and absolute needs in various areas of production, industry, and technology through these advantages.”
According to the Deputy PM, no country in the world is regarded as being of lesser importance in regional and international trade, because every country possesses either comparative or absolute advantages in the production of goods and products. This is considered one of the fundamental necessities and drivers of regional and international trade.
In his speech, the Deputy PM said that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is not only completing unfinished chapters in the country’s economic growth and development, but has also, with limited resources, initiated new chapters in rebuilding the country’s economic foundations—chapters that the present and future generations of the country will take pride in.
Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund said: “The Wakhan Economic and Trade Road has been opened. This road connects China with European markets through Afghanistan via the shortest route and transforms Afghanistan into a major hub for regional transit and trade. In addition to transit revenues, major and important infrastructure will gradually be developed along this route.”
At the ceremony of the Imam Abu Hanifa (RA) Exhibition, the Deputy PM emphasized that the Islamic Emirate’s efforts toward regional connectivity are clear evidence that we are transforming our borders from points of threat into points of connection for strategic economic cooperation, and that this remains among our top priorities.
At the Fifth General and International Imam Abu Hanifa (RA) Exhibition, hundreds of domestic and international companies have showcased their industrial and agricultural products in approximately 600 exhibition booths across various sectors, including food products, medicines, dairy products, construction materials, handicrafts, carpets, plastics, iron melting, and many other fields.
The exhibition will continue for seven days.
