Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Beradar Akhund, met with a number of Shia scholars, elders, and tribal elders yesterday afternoon.

Attaullah Sadiq Shaghasi, head of the Society for Peace and Freedom, and Syed Hassan Fazelzada, head of the Shia Ulema and Influential Association, spoke on behalf of others at the meeting, which was held at the Marble Palace.

Mr. Fazilzada spoke on peace, security, and self-determination, adding that "we have always supported the Islamic Emirate and we will continue to do so, and we condemn all actions and efforts which are weakening the existing Islamic system." He described the Islamic Emirate as the core of unity and solidarity among the tribes living in Afghanistan and said that the Ulema had always prevented any kind of insurgency and insecurity in the Shiite-populated areas.

Dr. Sadiq Shaghasi also said that the Bonn Conference was a document of the birth of occupation, ethnic and regional prejudices, and on the contrary, the Doha Agreement could be considered as a document of freedom, unity, and brotherhood among the nations. He further added that, former tribal dictators and other intelligence operatives who have maintained their interests in dividing nations are no longer working here. They also had some proposals and suggestions, which they shared in writing with the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs.

Welcoming the leaders, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Beradar Akhund said that Afghanistan is the common home of all Afghans and working for its development is the common responsibility of all Afghans. The position of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is clear; our door is open to every citizen of Afghanistan. We welcome everyone who serves Afghanistan and the Afghan people.

Mr. Beradar Akhund said that the welfare and economic stability of the people is one of the important programs and priorities for the government to improve the economic situation in the short run, provide employment to the people, and increase the national income.
