The implementation phase of Afghanistan’s Development Strategy, which was approved by the esteemed Amir al-Mu’minin of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (may Allah protect him), officially commenced today, August 26, 2025, during a gathering chaired by Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, at the Government Media and Information Center. Members of the Cabinet also participated in the meeting.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy PM Mullah Baradar Akhund stated that Afghanistan’s Development Strategy has been formulated in accordance with Islamic principles, scientific standards, and the country’s prevailing conditions, utilizing domestic capacities. The strategy identifies the core objectives and priorities for the nation’s development. He added that over the past four years, all ministries and institutions of the Islamic Emirate have contributed to strengthening the foundations of governance and advancing the country’s economic and social development.

The Deputy PM emphasized that Afghanistan’s limited resources and growing needs require all ministries and institutions of the Islamic Emirate to formulate and implement their policies, programs, and projects in alignment with this document. This will ensure greater coordination and prioritization in the allocation and utilization of national resources.

He called upon all ministries and institutions to recognize that program development, project prioritization, cost estimation, and effective monitoring for the implementation of this strategy are joint responsibilities, requiring sustained inter-agency cooperation, with full diligence and attention.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate, Zabihullah Mujahid, also responded to media questions regarding Afghanistan’s Development Strategy.

It is noteworthy that Afghanistan’s Development Strategy is a comprehensive, unified, and long-term document prepared to guide the achievement of the country’s fundamental objectives over the next five years, channeling all Emirate resources toward a single trajectory. The key objectives of this significant document, based on Islamic principles, are the establishment of sound governance, ensuring nationwide security and safeguarding territorial integrity, job creation, and economic growth.

With the implementation of this strategy, transparency and accountability will be enhanced, public and international confidence in the system will increase, and access to education, healthcare, and other essential services will be improved.
