on April 28th, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, officiated the commencement of the remaining construction phases of the Pashdan Dam in Herat province. The ceremony was attended by esteemed figures including Minister of Water and Energy, Mullah Abdul Latif Mansoor, the Governor of Herat, Sheikh Noor Ahmad Islamjar, islamic scholars and businessmen. Addressing the gathering, Mullah Baradar Akhund highlighted the challenges Afghanistan has faced in recent decades due to occupation, instability, and climate change, leading to profound socio-economic repercussions. He emphasized the Islamic Emirate's firm commitment to leveraging natural resources for national progress, fostering an environment conducive to both domestic and foreign investment. Mullah Baradar Akhund affirmed that the Islamic Emirate has undertaken a comprehensive assessment of all incomplete dam projects across the country. He noted that detailed plans have been devised to finalize these projects, resulting in the initiation of practical work on many of them. Notably, the Pashdan Dam, one of these projects, commenced operations today. Highlighting the significance of the Pashdan Dam for Herat province, the Deputy Prime Minister assured its residents of the Islamic Emirate unwavering commitment to completing the project efficiently and to high standards. He expressed gratitude for the sacrifices made by the people of Herat for the nation's freedom, pledging that the Islamic Emirate will prioritize initiatives aimed at addressing the province's economic challenges. Upon the completion of the Pashdan Dam, numerous citizens will directly and indirectly benefit, with the storage of approximately 54 million cubic meters of water, irrigation for 13 thousand hectares of land, and the generation of two megawatts of electricity.
