Five-Year Electricity Development Plan Approved

The Five-Year Electricity Development Plan, which had been endorsed by the Economic Commission under the chairmanship of the Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, has been approved by the Esteemed Amir al-Mu'minin Sheikh Hibatullah Akhundzada.

The plan includes 25 electricity generation projects utilizing domestic resources such as hydropower, solar, wind, and coal; 13 unfinished and 23 planned electricity transmission line projects; 21 unfinished and 21 planned substation construction projects; and 34 planned electricity distribution projects. Upon completion of these projects, the energy sector will witness significant growth and development, while the country's dependence on imported electricity will be reduced.

The implementation of this plan will further strengthen the role of the energy sector in Afghanistan's economic reconstruction and the enhancement of its financial self-reliance, enabling the country to achieve its objectives of self-sufficiency and energy security.
