Under the leadership of the Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the regular meeting of the Economic Commission was held at Marmarin Palace

On July 29, 2023, the regular meeting of the Economic Commission was convened at Marmarin Palace under the leadership of the Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund. During this meeting, various pertinent topics were discussed in accordance with the agenda. Under the guidance of the Ministry of Water and Energy, the Economic Commission entrusted a joint committee comprising representatives from the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, Ministry of Industry and Commerce, and the National Development Corporation. Their task, in line with the decree of His Excellency Amir Ul Mo’mineen, is to formulate a practical strategy for the construction of Sultan Ibrahim Dam in Sar-e-Pul province and Agha Jan Dam in Chinarto district of Uruzgan, utilizing mines as a resource. This strategy will be presented in the next Economic Commission meeting for the final decision. The contracts for the construction of these dams have been signed with the National Development Corporation, and the projects are scheduled to commence shortly. Additionally, after thorough deliberation, the meeting decided to close transshipment in the ports of Farah, Herat, and Nimroz provinces. Henceforth, petroleum products will only be imported to Afghanistan through transit. Based on the Economic Commission's decision, Afghan transport tankers will also be authorized to transit oil products into Afghanistan. Furthermore, the Ministry of Justice and the Department of Revenue of the Ministry of Finance presented a plan focused on increasing revenue and implementing effective management practices. The plan entails revitalizing existing sources of income for the Ministry of Justice and exploring 14 new revenue streams within its framework. This comprehensive strategy is expected to significantly boost the annual income of the Ministry of Justice.
