Special Week to Support Needy Countrymen Held

The Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, attended a ceremony today (Sunday), October 18, 2026, organized by the Afghan Red Crescent Society to mark a special week dedicated to supporting needy countrymen.
In his address, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund thanked the officials of the Afghan Red Crescent Society for providing timely assistance, in accordance with their needs, to countrymen affected by natural disasters, Afghans returning to the country, and children suffering from congenital heart disease. Deputy PM Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund emphasized that supporting needy countrymen is not solely the responsibility of the Afghan Red Crescent Society. The Deputy PM also called on all affluent citizens, traders, investors, charitable organizations, and international humanitarian organizations to provide assistance and engage in practical cooperation with the Society.
Deputy PM Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund stated that many countrymen had been facing severe economic and humanitarian crises due to recent droughts, seasonal floods, earthquakes, and the forced return of thousands of families to the country. The Deputy PM stressed that addressing these challenges requires serious attention.
Deputy PM Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund called on the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan to publish impartial analytical reports on Afghanistan that take the realities on the ground into account. The Deputy PM added that it was unfair for UNAMA's published reports to overlook Afghanistan's economic and security achievements while focusing on negative aspects, as though it were an opposing and hostile party.
The Deputy PM urged the officials of the Afghan Red Crescent Society to ensure transparency in the fair distribution of assistance and the identification of eligible beneficiaries.
