In the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the contract between the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum and a private company was signed today, December 24, 2024. The factory will be located in the Altamur area of Logar province, with the private company investing approximately $145 million in its construction. The facility will have the capacity to produce 2,500 tons of cement daily. The project will create hundreds of job opportunities for Afghan citizens, and the private company will also provide health and educational services to local residents.
It is worth noting that since the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate, the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum has signed contracts for four major cement projects with the private sector, involving a total investment of approximately $623 million. Currently, work on these projects is progressing rapidly.
