Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund Meets with the Governor of Samangan

During his visit to Samangan Province, the Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, met today, November 5, 2025, with the Governor of Samangan, Mohammad Shoaib Resalat, and the officials of the committees assigned to address the problems of earthquake-affected people, at the Provincial Governor’s Office.

The Deputy PM requested progress reports from the heads of the designated committees regarding the implementation of their respective responsibilities in various parts.

The committee officials, in their reports, stated that so far, they have delivered primary food supplies, medicines, clothing, tents, and other essential shelter materials to all citizens affected by the earthquake. They added that those with minor injuries have received immediate medical treatment, while individuals requiring longer-term care have been provided with financial assistance.

Deputy PM Mullah Baradar Akhund expressed appreciation for the work carried out by the committees and strongly emphasized the need to promptly complete the survey of all earthquake-affected areas in Samangan Province, including the martyrs, the injured, fully collapsed houses, and partially damaged houses, and to distribute the assistance allocated by the Islamic Emirate to the affected people in a transparent manner.

So far, as a result of the recent earthquake in Samangan Province, 13 citizens have been martyred and 344 others injured. Additionally, 419 houses and 12 mosques have been completely destroyed, while 593 houses have been partially damaged.
