The Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, today, September 14, 2025, attended the inauguration ceremony of the practical works for the exploration and extraction project of the Tooti Maidan gas fields.

The Deputy PM described the commencement of practical operations in these gas fields as an important step in the investment sector. He stated that investment in such large-scale and significant projects sends a clear message to all countries and investors that security is ensured in Afghanistan and that favorable conditions for all types of investments are in place. According to him, under the economic-oriented policies of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, all potential investors are welcomed and supported through the provision of necessary facilities.

The Deputy PM said that this project will create numerous employment opportunities for citizens, substantially meet the domestic demand for gas, reduce the country’s reliance on imported gas and electricity, and gradually prepare the ground for the export of gas abroad. According to him, this will help balance the trade deficit to some extent and, overall, play a significant role in the country’s economic growth.

The Deputy PM once again called on all domestic and foreign investors and businessmen to invest in Afghanistan and take advantage of the country’s comparative advantages.

In conclusion, the Deputy PM urged the contracting company of the Tooti Maidan gas fields’ exploration and extraction project to carry out its works properly in full compliance with all standards and regulations.
